Welcome to IRENE, the family-owned artisanal bakery that's causing a stir in the heart of Camberwell.
Our bakery first opened its doors in the summer of 2021, and we've been serving up fresh, delicious bread, cakes, viennoiseries, and sandwiches ever since. You might be surprised to learn that our bakery used to be a flower shop, but we've transformed it into a full-cycle bakery and coffee shop that still retains the charming ambiance of the old building.
At IRENE, we're all about quality and consistency. Our team of passionate bakers works tirelessly to ensure that every bite of our freshly baked goodies is perfection. We specialise in 100% sourdough bread, traditional baguettes, fine viennoseries and other bits that you’d expect from an artisanal bakery like ours.
The family behind IRENE hails from Kazakhstan, and we've named our bakery after the owner's mother to honour her incredible sense of hospitality and warmth. Our team is truly international, and we draw inspiration from a variety of cultures and baking techniques. We don't stick to one style in particular; instead, we strive to blend the best of all worlds to create that perfect balance and quality.
And don't even get us started on the coffee. We proudly serve Jam Pot coffee, UK’s first fully integrated coffee roaster, so balanced and delicious. We've been working with them from the very beginning, and our guests can't get enough of it!
After opening our bakery in Camberwell, we brought IRENE’s freshly baked goodness to Marylebone in 2022. Our cozy coffee shop there quickly became a local favourite, the perfect spot to enjoy a freshly baked pastry, house- made sandwich, a loaf of sourdough, and a cup of Jam Pot coffee.
Encouraged by its success, we expanded again in 2023, this time to the vibrant Brixton Village. Just like in our other locations, we deliver our bread and pastries fresh from Camberwell every morning to ensure the highest quality and taste.
We’re proud to have built thriving, welcoming spaces in both Marylebone and Brixton, where locals stop by daily for their favourite treats. It’s been wonderful to see our IRENE community grow — and we can’t wait to keep sharing our passion for bread, pastry, and coffee with even more people.
